What is Rethink Nutrition?

Rethink Nutrition is an insurance-based practice that aims to provide personalized nutrition counseling and support to help individuals achieve their health and wellness goals. We pride ourselves in having a different approach to thinking about nutrition needs. While we won’t shy away from helping you reach your goals, we also believe that we can help you reach those goals without sacrificing your quality of life or the simple pleasures that delicious food can provide.

Why should I choose Rethink Nutrition?

At Rethink Nutrition, our dietitians have the expertise and knowledge to guide you on your journey towards optimal health. We understand that nutrition is not a one-size-fits-all approach, so we provide individualized care, taking into account your specific goals, preferences, and lifestyle. Our dietitians have advanced training in the areas of gastrointestinal health, intuitive and mindful eating, diabetes management, weight concerns and functional nutrition.  We combine these advanced trainings with our decades of experience helping clients make genuine lifestyle changes. We know what works and what doesn’t and we can help you streamline your efforts towards a healthier you.

What services does Rethink Nutrition offer?

We offer one-on-one insurance-based nutrition coaching as well as specialized programs that include utilizing insurance benefits where we can and offering higher end cash-based services like unlimited support between visits, menu/recipe planning, specialized testing, and more. As we’ve said before, our approach is not one-size-fits-all so the best way to find the right fit for you is to schedule an initial visit with our team so we can help you determine the right approach for your unique needs. Regardless of the treatment approach or service that you select, rest assured that we have the expertise to support a range of issues including gastrointestinal disorders, diabetes, heart disease, weight concerns, and more.

You can schedule a 1:1 visit or learn more about our 90-Day Food Sensitivity and Gut Repair Program on our website.

How do I schedule an appointment?

You can schedule an appointment with one of our dietitians directly on our website or give us a call or text at 785-338-8938. We offer both in-person and virtual appointments and will work with you to find a convenient time for your initial visit.

What if I don’t live close to your office?

Good news! We offer virtual visits for clients living anywhere in the state of Kansas. You can be in Western Kansas or simply stuck in your office a couple of blocks away and we can see you virtually. Our electronic medical record (EMR) has a secure, HIPAA-compliant telehealth platform built right in. When you schedule a virtual visit, your emailed appointment reminders will include a link to join your video session. At your appointment time, simply click the link and you’ll be joined into the session with your dietitian. As a backup option, we can also utilize phone calls in most situations. If we’re unable to connect via video chat at your appointment time, we’ll try calling you instead.

Can I use my health insurance to cover the cost of the sessions?

Yes! However, we do recommend checking with your health insurance provider about coverage for dietitian services. We have a convenient guide on our website to ensure you ask the right questions about your coverage. Visit Many insurance plans do cover nutrition counseling, especially if your plan offers preventative benefits, but it may vary depending on your specific policy.

How long are the counseling sessions?

The duration of counseling sessions may vary depending on your needs and the complexity of your situation. Typically, an initial visit lasts for 60 minutes, and follow-up sessions are 45 minutes long. However, we understand that an individual's needs and financial situations can vary and our team will work with you to determine a follow up frequency and session length to meet your needs.

What can I expect during a counseling session?

During a counseling session, your dietitian will take the time to understand your health history, lifestyle, dietary habits, and goals. They will provide personalized recommendations, answer your questions, and help you create an action plan to achieve your desired outcomes. We believe in a collaborative approach, and your active participation is key to your success. Rest assured, you’ll leave your very first session with some action steps that you can start making right away to begin your journey to better health.

What if I need support between sessions?

We are limited to the amount of between session support that we can provide when utilizing 1:1 insurance-based visits. However, if you feel like you need more support between sessions, you can upgrade to one of our programs to better fit your needs. Fortunately, our programs offer the best of both worlds! We’ll use your insurance where we can, specifically for the actual visits with your dietitian, and provide you with more customized higher-level support outside of your visits under the cash-pay portion of our programs.
