Things in Bowls is back! The blog took a break over the holidays but, now that were back, I've got plenty of recipes to share. You can expect a lot of soup recipes today and in the next edition because you can't beat soup when you want a warm, delicious, one pot meal! I hope you find something new to add to your dinner rotation. If you want to see all of the recipes I've shared in one place, you can find them all HERE.
This is one of our favorite soups for the colder months. It has smoked paprika, which we LOVE and also uses ground turkey, which I like as a cheaper way to get some protein. I made some cornbread muffins in my giant muffin tin to go with this at the last minute so we'd have carbs at the meal. However, in my rush, I forgot to add the sugar to the batter and they were a little sad. It was easily fixed with some butter and honey 🙂
I'm not usually a big meatball fan but this looked like a fun spin on butter chicken, which is one of my favorite Indian dishes. We used ground turkey instead of ground chicken because that was what Aldi had. I still like traditional butter chicken better, but this is a slightly quicken and cheaper version!
This recipe caught my eye because it was different from all the other soups we make on a regular basis. We also try to do meatless meals 4-5 nights per week to save on the grocery budget, so this was a nice way to change up our normal routine there as well. Neither of us love sweet potatoes, so we used carrots instead. I left out the spinach as well.
This may not look like much but we love it! It's another quick, cheap, delicious winter staple in our house. The recipe calls for 1/2 teaspoon of red pepper flakes and I don't do near that much (more like a couple of sprinkles), so it isn't spicy at all when I make it. I also only do one onion instead of two and double the amount of celery and carrots (because I typically don't need the celery for anything else unless I was really thinking ahead and I don't want it to go to waste!). We usually have cornbread on the side.
"My experience working with Sydney at Rethink Nutrition was wonderful! She helped me see that consistency and balance are an important part in being healthy, and she taught me how to work towards food freedom. It was easy to be honest about challenges, and I was always met with patience and new solutions to try. There were so many days I wanted to give up on recovery, but her encouragement and advice helped me keep going. If you're struggling but hesitant to see a dietitian, I would suggest Rethink because you deserve the care and support to get better. Sydney is truly amazing at what she does. She's my hero!"
"I rarely leave reviews for anything online, but I have to say that Anna Binder and the team at Rethink Nutrition genuinely changed my life. After suffering from IBS and acid reflux for years, it only took a few months with Anna's treatment for me to be almost completely symptom free. I have so much more knowledge and control over my health now than I ever thought possible - not to mention that I can eat without hardly any restrictions or concerns anymore. Could not recommend enough!"
"In just over a week of working with Anna, I feel great! I no longer feel the need to lay down during the day, my face is clearing up, and I'm no longer feeling bloated by foods that I eat. If I'm feeling this good already, I'm excited to see how much better it gets in the coming weeks."
